This year’s SPIE Defense, Security and Sensing Conference witnessed some amazing OLED microdisplays by eMagin.
Two types of OLED microdisplays was seen – the SXGA OLED-XL microdisplay and the SVGA+ Rev3 display.
The SXGA OLED-XL microdisplay comes with 1280 x 1024 triad pixels and provides digital signal processing in 0.77 inch diagonal active area of compact package. Even when this OLED operates in normal condition using 100 cd/m2 it consumes less than 200mW of power.
The SVGA+ Rev3 Display boasts of near-eye personal viewer applications like Thermal Imaging. This application helps in reducing power consumption up to 115 mW under monochrome mode and less than 175 mW with full color of 100 cd/m2. Simple temperature calibration options are available.
The SVGA+ Rev3 forms the best display option for color matching and binocular luminance. These OLED displays have already grabbed eyeballs and are being used by companies like Thales, Liteye, Elbit Systems, Oasis and Intevac.
