Recently Advantech has declared the completion of their financing round of $14M.
Advantech got an investment of approx $14 million from the Chinese investors for building the roll-to roll OLED manufacturing technology and they started developing an inline TFT (Thin Film Transistors) production line employing the Advantech’s unique process of shadow mask deposition.
The initial $12 million was invested by the Pan Family and the remaining $2.5 million by the Shanghai Ventures.
Advantech used this pilot line to manufacture backplanes for OLED TV, and Electronic Shelf Labels backplanes. The Founder of Advantech, the Active Matrix famed Dr. T Peter Brody has high hopes that this new technology will revolutionize the current OLED market and will reduce the production cost of OLEDs up to 90% which will make the OLED TVs even cheaper than any LCD TV.
According to Advantech’s plan the worldwide sales and licensing of their Active Matrix Thin Film Transistors backplanes and the production lines to the eminent manufacturers of TV and e-paper will start in 2011.
